MEPA aims to give anaesthetic trainees the world over the opportunity to develop management strategies for emergencies in paediatric anaesthesia using high-fidelity simulation.
A unique feature of the MEPA course is that all scenarios are expert peer-reviewed and literature-based.
It is a collaboration of specialist paediatric anaesthetists which originated from Bristol Children’s Hospital but has evolved into an international organisation drawing on the expertise of paediatric anaesthetists from Canada to Singapore.
The prime requirement to become a MEPA centre is to be a tertiary paediatric surgical centre and to have attended at least one MEPA course. Members of core MEPA faculty are often willing to help new centres set up and run their first course.
